Fall 2011 Dear String Academy Students and Parents, Present and Prospective, New students wishing to study violin are welcome to register for "Beginners' Week". Students will meet as a group and receive daily instruction as a prelude to the fall semester. This is an excellent way to jump start your violin study! "Beginners' Week" August 29-September 2 3:40-4:30 Laramie Plains Civic Center Rm 317 Cost: $60.00 Registration: Call Sherry Sinift at 760-4719 or email info@sawyoming.org (Online registration is NOT available for this event) After beginners week, participating students will segue into the fall semester with private lessons scheduled according to the availabilty of student and teacher and group lessons meeting on Friday at 3:30. Returning students should have received a letter about the fall schedule including Play-In/Potluck date (Wednesday, August 31 4:30-6:00 for violinists, 5:00-6:00 for cellists and violists with a picnic following at Undine Park), start up date and group lesson schedule. If you have questions about your group assignment please contact your private teacher. Returning students do not need to register. If the length of your lesson is changing please have your teacher contact me so that I can change it in the "Registration and Payment" system. If you previously registered simply go online to make payment for the fall semester according to the options available under "Registration and Payment". New students must register. When entering the "Registration and Payment" page of the String Academy website you will first be asked to create an account. Once your student has been confirmed you will be able to register. If you have questions or need more info please contact me at 760-4719 or info@sawyoming.org The fall schedule will include a Halloween Concert, "Classics for a Cause", Happy Holidays Laramie, a community wide 'Honors Recital' and solo recitals. New this year will be "Skill and Theory Tests" at the end of the fall semester and "Juries and Theory Tests" at the end of the spring semester. We will also have a parent meeting in October. The fall schedule will be posted by August 31 with more details to follow in groups and lessons. Please come well prepared to your first lesson and make a schedule for the fall that allows for plenty of time for daily practice. As expressed in this paraphrase of Shinichi Suzuki....
