Cleft Garam Kim studying violin at Northwestern University

Garam Kim (violin '09) is now a student of the internationally renowned violin teacher Almita Vamos. Garam is pursuing a double major at Northwestern University in biology and music.

Amy Herbert (violin '08) is a student at Johns Hopkins University. She is spending the spring semester of 2011 studying in Paris where she has found time to include private study on the violin.

Cleft Byron Hitchcock in Brazil

After completing degrees in violin performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the New England Conservatory, Byron Hitchcock (violin '02) is now serving as the Assistant Principal 2nd violin of Orquestra Sinfonica Brasiliera.

Cleft Liana Przygocki

Liana Przygocki (violin '04) and her violin have stuck together since high school first through her degree in International Agriculture and Rural Develpment at Cornell and now as she works for Outward Bound in Ely, Minnesota and Baltimore, Maryland. When she visits Laramie she and her mom play duets together.

Cleft Sarah Ferguson is active at the University of Wyoming

Sarah Ferguson (violin '07) is in her fourth year of study as a music education major at the University of Wyoming. She is a teacher in the UW String Project. She played a wonderful senior recital in January including the Barber violin concerto. In the fall of 2010 she participated in the UW Jacoby Concerto Competion on both violin and viola. In the spring of 2011 she was named the UW Music Department's "Presser Scholar". She is also working on a Senior Honor's Project developing a curriculum for the UW String Project Ensemble. After receiving her undergraduate degree she intends to earn a master's degree in viola performance at a prestigious music school. In the summer of 2011 she will serve as 'head counselor' at the Indiana University Summer String Academy.

Cleft Daniel Galbreath at University of Wyoming

Daniel Galbreath (viola '07) is pursuing a Viola Performance degree at the University of Wyoming. He has been a private teacher in the UW String Project for four years. He recently performed his senior recital which focused on English composers including Britten, Vaughn Williams and Rebecca Clarke. In 2010 he was named the UW Music Department's "Presser Scholar". In addition to his viola studies he is a prolific composer, student of conducting and sings in the Collegiate Chorale. One of his compositions was performed by the Chorale in 2010. Daniel hopes to spend the spring semester of 2012 studying in England. He will pursue a masters in composition after earning his undergraduate degree from UW.

Cleft Peter Anderson Sprecher at Carnegie Melon

Peter Anderson Sprecher (viola '02)) is currently a master's student in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Melon University.

Cleft Nathael Massey at Columbia

Nathanael Massey (violin '04) Earned a degree in sociology at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. While at Lewis & Clark he studied violin and played in the orchestra. After graduation he spent two years traveling the the Middle East before enrolling in Columbia University's Masters of Journalism Program.

Cleft George West at the University of Wyoming

George West (violin '10) recently finished his freshman year at the University of Wyoming. He studied violin and played in the UW Symphony including a performance of Mahler's 1st symphony in April.

Cleft Michael Przygocki at the University of Wyoming

Michael Przygocki (cello '08) recently finished his junior year as a physics major at the University of Wyoming. Michael studied cello privately and has played in the UW Symphony on and off during his studies. He enjoys practicing when he can.

Cleft CURRENT STUDENT ACCOLADES!!

National Honors Orchestra: Heidi Hanekamp, Lisa Herbert and June Sun were chose to participate by audition.

Laramie Junior High Festival: Sterling Zill and Eloise Fadial were chosen to play on the Junior High Honors Recital based on the performance of their solos at the festival. Madeline Okano and Mary Pauline Sheridan Rabideau were chosen as being in the top three soloists in the festival from the UW Lab School.

Pedagogy Weekend: The Corelli Consort, including Nyoka Erikson, Emily Gamboa, Heidi Hanekamp, Lisa Herbert, Chrisopher Leonard, and June Sun were invited to perform at Northwestern University with groups from Indiana University, Peabody Conservatory, Northwestern and the String Academy of Wisconsin as part of Pedagogy Weekend. As part of the conference Nyoka Erikson performed for a masterclass with Blair Milton, member of the Chicago Symphony and Christopher Leonard performed for a masterclass with Mimi Zweig, member of the Indiana University faculty.

Indiana University Summer String Academy: Christopher Leonard will attend this summer.

Caleb Bristol will attend the Lamont Summer Music Academy this summer.
